1 x Scarabaeus Sacer | Sacred Scarab Beetle
Care:
Substrate: Provide a deep layer (at least 15–25cm) of sandy loam, coco coir, or topsoil mix to allow for tunneling and breeding.
Temperature: Maintain a warm environment, ideally between 24–30°C.
Humidity: Keep the habitat relatively dry, with humidity levels around 30-60%. While they are arid species, light misting of the substrate may be necessary occasionally, but avoid making it waterlogged.
Space: A large, horizontal enclosure is required, as they are active and move dung balls
Diet and Nutrition
Dung Source: S. sacer feed on mammal dung. The best sources are herbivores, such as horses, goats, or rabbits.
Feeding: Fresh dung should be provided regularly. They form this into balls, roll it, and bury it to eat, a process known as ball-rolling.
