Introduction To Bug Keeping
There is a lot of misinformation out there on bug keeping and we want to put things right with what works for us.
We have seen people post in the bug groups information that is completely incorrect, perhaps this is because they read something on the internet and believe it to be true without checking, or someone is just being sarcastic/silly and the information is taken as fact.We saw someone ask the other day about which species of hissing cockroach is the biggest, someone commented "Elliptorhina davidi" this is in fact one of the SMALLEST.There could have been a mix up in language or someone was being silly with their answer or they just didn't know.
Because of this we have been asked many times about doing talks on bug keeping and so we have finally put together a list of Bug Keeper sessions that we hold every Saturday 18:00-19:30 online via Zoom.
Can't make the session? We have your back, the Bug Keeper sessions will be recorded, so you can watch them back in your own time.
After each session you will receive a play back link of the recording.
These Bug Keeper sessions are aimed at anyone who wants to learn more about keeping insects as pets.
The content of our Bug Keeper Sessions are based on our experience from trial & error and the knowledge we have gained over the years. Some session may vary slightly, however, most sessions will include the following;
-
Housing & Enclosures
-
Substrate
-
Temperature
-
Humidity
-
Food
-
How to sex cockroaches
-
Breeding
-
Tools & Equipment
-
Managing numbers
-
Q & A
If you have a specific species you would like us to cover, Email Us and if we have enough interest, we will add it to the list of talks.
